RESIDENTS' lives will be made a little easier with the launch of a "one-stop-shop" for all council queries in Malvern.

About 100 people turned up to Malvern library, on Graham Road, on Monday to see the customer service centre officially opened by Liz Lynne MEP.

The centre is a joint initiative between Malvern Hills District Council and Worcestershire County Council to deal with council inquiries from the public, provide information, receive payments and deal with requests for services.

During its first morning of opening the team of 15 customer service advisors helped about 50 members of the public with a wide range of queries.

"It went really well, as from 9am we had customers walking through the door," said Sarah Walters, assistant customer services manager.

"There was a whole range of issues we dealt with, from people who were after taxi licences to benefits queries and cash office payments."

The centre opens from 9am to 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. People can also call for advice on 01684 862151.
