BRINTON Park is to be rocked this weekend by the second concert in a rhythmic roster of tuneful events.

Red Hunter will perform an outdoor classic rock and pop gig on Sunday and want fans to think up requests for the concert.

Kidderminster-based bassist Dave Towers, who has been to Los Angeles twice this year for meetings with record producers, said they will perform a mix of songs by artists such as Blur, Cream and Led Zeppelin.

The former IT consultant, who formed the band five to six years ago with brothers John, Geoff and Mike Whitbread, said he hoped the concert - their first performance at Brinton Park - would raise their already growing profile.

He added copies of their album Honestly, At Their Age would also be on sale at the show.

The 56-year-old, who will fly to Japan shortly after this Saturday's concert for a three week tour with American 60s band, The Ventures, said Red Hunter named their album as a joke. "It's a bit of an amusing title because we're not kids and we've been around the block once or twice," he laughed.

"We all work but I'm semi-retired at the moment and more of a professional musician because I go touring.

"I'm off to Japan after the park concert because I've got some friends who tour there every year and I join them for three weeks each year."

Red Hunter usually perform at venues between north London and the west Midlands and have performed at several open-air venues.

"We work off a programme of about 70 numbers and we can do original stuff or classic rock and pop covers," he said. "People are welcome to come along and make their own requests."

Red Hunter follow in the footsteps of The Bell Inn Brass Band, who opened the district council's Bands in the Park programme last weekend.
