DYNAMIC DJs will send youngsters into a spin as part of the first Kidderminster Arts Festival.

Workshops by top Birmingham "turntablists" DJ Roc1 and MadFlow are just some of the exciting events taking place under the banner of KAF this week.

The seminars by Punch, a key partner in organising Europe's biggest Afro-Caribbean music festival, Acfest, are designed to educate children in rhythm, song writing and music.

The classes, which take place at the studio at Wyre Forest Glades Leisure Centre from 10am until 12.30pm and 2pm until 4pm on Saturday, will give children hands-on experience in making and mixing music using two turntables.

Other events on the jam-packed agenda include the unique play All Steamed Up, to be performed by Mikron Theatre Company at Severn Valley Railway tomorrow, Stourport Boat Club on Sunday and Bewdley Museum next Thursday.

Experienced writer, poet and storyteller, and former Birmingham "poet laureate", Simon Pitt, will also be performing poetry, readings, rap, songs and comedy at Kidderminster Town Hall tomorrow.

The same venue will also host acrobatic comedy by Tanzanian entertainers The Black Eagles tomorrow.
