A RELATIVE of a Stourport man who died of a heroin overdose "knew something was wrong" when his half-brother did not return from the toilet on the night of his death.

The half-brother of Glynn Evans - who died on December 22 last year - told an inquest he thought it strange the 20-year-old had not said goodnight and broke into the bathroom to find him collapsed on the floor with an empty syringe in his hand.

In a statement read out by Worcestershire Coroner Victor Round at Stourport, Beau Broadhurst said: "I just thought he was going to the toilet and did not take any notice and it was only looking at the clock I realised he had been gone for 20 minutes.

"I thought it was strange he did not say goodnight."

Mr Evans had drunk a quantity of cider while watching television at the family home at The Slad in Stourport, said Mr Round, when he went to the bathroom.

Recording a verdict of death by non-dependent use of drugs, Mr Round added morphine was found in Mr Evans' blood and was "most likely to have metabolised from heroin".
