A MAN found lying drunk on a Worcester pavement by police on three separate occasions in July has been jailed for a day.

Samuel Wilson, aged 43, admitted three charges of being drunk and disorderly and a charge of failing to surrender to bail.

Mark Soper, prosecuting at Worcester Magistrates Court, said that Wilson, of Gresham Road, Dines Green, Worcester, was found lying on the St Nicholas Street pavement by police.

"On each occasion it was clear to police that he had been drinking and they were given a tirade of abuse from him," he said.

In mitigation, Barry Newton said Wilson was previously a man without means but that his life had taken a "turn for the better".

"He and his partner have been offered new accommodation in Dines Green. He has now got employment laying floor tiles in Worcester which will hopefully keep him off the alcohol."

Magistrates ordered Wilson be imprisoned for one day for failing to surrender to bail. No separate penalty was made for being drunk and disorderly. He was ordered to pay £55 court costs.
