PROUD gardeners have been rewarded for their green-fingered efforts in this year's Droitwich Spa in Bloom competition.

The event, now in its twelfth year, attracted scores of entries and judging proved a tough task.

Droitwich Spa Town Council organises the annual competition and has now dished out prizes to winners in the following categories:

Best kept garden, best hanging basket, best community floral display, best school floral display, best display public building or industrial estate display, best community floral display by a retirement home or sheltered accommodation.

Kingfisher Court, at Waterside, scooped the latter title.

It's the first year Kingfisher has entered and residents' association chairman, Brian Hacon, said it was a united effort."The ground floor residents have a small plot each and they decided to get together and create an attractive floral display.

"We are delighted with our certificate and gardening gift vouchers."

The list of winners is on display at the Droitwich Spa Advertiser office in High Street.
