FORMER Everton room-mates John Barton and Gary Megson pit their sides against each other tonight when Worcester City entertain First Division West Brom (7.45).

Megson, who saw his side lose 2-0 at Wrexham last night, has named a squad that includes out of favour stri-ker Jason Roberts, Adam Chambers and £1m midfielder Lee Marshall.

Barton will give forwards Mark Owen, Leon Kelly, Adam Webster and Stewart Hadley the chance to impress with all four likely to feature.

Full-back Allan Davies is also expected to play but fellow defenders Dan Jones (ankle) is still doubtful while Jon Holloway (tight groin) is set to sit out the action.

With the start of City's campaign under three weeks away, Barton will once again ponder his options while keeping a close eye on fitness levels.

"We're mindful of the fact it is the second game in three days but the purpose of the exercise is to have a look at different options." he said.

"The players have worked hard in pre-season which is important because no matter what ability you have without a good level of fitness you can't display it."

Barton admits he had no inkling that his former Goodison colleague would go on to become such a successful manager but is looking forward to tonight's match.

"In your playing days your thoughts are first and foremost on playing, but Gary must have done a few things right since he's become a manager because a good few clubs have showed an interest in him," added Barton.

"West Brom will send a mixed bag but it is an attractive fixture."

Albion's squad is: Dan Crane, Phillip Midworth, Tamika Mkandawire, Ross Adams, Lloyd Dyer, Adam Chambers, Lee Marshall, Jason Roberts, Lee Sherwood, Simon Brown, Tom War-mer, Brian Smikle, Matt Jones, Kyle Patterson.
