THE Jamaican High Commissioner visited Redditch last week for a formal dinner with the mayor and other dignitaries.

Her Excellency Maxine Roberts was at the town hall for the function and spoke to more than 150 guests.

Redditch Community Relations Council chairman and former town mayor Madge Tillsley said that Her Excellency was very impressed on her first trip to the town.

Mrs Tillsley said: "In her speech she remarked about what good community relations we have here in Redditch and what a good example the town was to other areas in bringing harmony between different minorities about.

"She was very impressed by the function and Caribbean buffet laid on and said she would love to come back."

Mrs Tillsley added: "There was an excellent turnout as well."

It is the third time a Jamaican High Commissioner has visited Redditch.

Mrs Tillsley also appeared on the Ed Doolan show last week when the radio presenter broadcast from the Palace Theatre on Thursday.

Mrs Tillsley spoke in her role as Community Relations Council chairman.
