YOUNGSTERS who want to learn about local wildlife should keep their eyes peeled for a new website.

Worcestershire Wildlife Trust's junior club, Watch, is now online, featuring all the latest events, information and activities in the area.

Organisers also hope to include games, quizzes, poems, stories and news about children's own explorations of the natural environment at www.worcswildlifetrust.co.uk

In addition, each of the three clubs in the county regularly run fun days to encourage youngsters to learn about local animal species and plants in an entertaining way.

In Malvern, they can find out about the great escapes of seeds from parent plants to the outside world, in Redditch, watery wildlife, and in Wyre Forest, hedgehogs, in particular, make their mark.

Becky Lashley, Watch community awareness officer, said the club - which costs £10 a year to join or £12 for up to four children living at one address - was a fantastic way of introducing children to the countryside.

"You don't have to be a member to take part in the activities but joining up has other benefits," she said.

"Members receive six magazines or posters each year packed with nature and wildlife facts, games and competitions, plus a personal membership card and badge."
