ONE of the biggest West End and Broadway hits of the last few years is among the highlights of the new season at Malvern Theatres.

The Play What I Wrote (September 22-27) is the multi-award-winning tribute to Morecambe and Wise, Britain's best-loved comedy duo.

Every review has been a rave and every show a sell-out, leaving audiences weeping with laughter on both sides of the Atlantic.

It has already featured guest stars from Joanna Lumley to Ewan McGregor, Liam Neeson to Roger Moore, Kylie Minogue to Sting, so who will it be in Malvern?

Also direct from the West End is the Royal National Theatre's production of Humble Boy (November 3-8), starring Hayley Mills and Tony Booth. Written by Charlotte Jones, Humble Boy explores love, longing and death in a poignant and often hilarious production.

Malvern Theatres is the venue for the world premiere of We Happy Few (November 6-15) written by actress-playwright Imogen Stubbs.

The Theatres' second co-production, We Happy Few, tells the story of the Osiris Players, an all-female theatre company which was formed in The Second World War. The play will be accompanied by a week-long festival of films, music and exhibitions about the war.

Donald Sinden and Susannah York star in the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of The Hollow Crown (September 7-13), an illuminating and humorous look at the changing role of the monarchy, through letters, speeches, poems, songs and music.

Husband and wife Edward Woodward and Michele Dotrice appear together for the first time in 20 years in the comedy The Cemetery Club (October 20-25).

Penelope Keith returns to Malvern in J B Priestley's Time and the Conways (December 8-13) and Ross Kemp appears in his first major Shakespearean role as Petruchio in The Taming of the Shrew (November 10-15).

The Theatres' packed autumn programme also includes a diverse range of music from the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to David Essex, and laughter from Jim Davidson and Pam Ayres.

Information about all these shows and more is contained in the new season brochure, available from the theatres, or visit the website on www.malvern-theatres.co.uk.
