A PROGRAMME mixing Elgar with Beethoven will be performed by an international quartet in a charity concert.

The Dante Quartet was founded in 1995, by Polish, English and French musicians and since then it has built up a reputation for performing celebrated masterpieces alongside unfamiliar works.

Among the quartet's recorded work is Les Vendredis, an album of 19th Century Russian quartet pieces by composers such as Liadov, Glasunov and Borodin.

Last year, the quartet came third in the Gramophone Awards and has recently completed recording the complete works of British composer Edmund Rubbra.

As well as performing on the UK festival circuit and in Spain, Sweden, Holland and Switzerland, the quartet is frequently broadcast live on Radio 3 from venues such as Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

The concert in Malvern is expected to feature Elgar's String Quartet, Rubbra's String Quartet No 4 and Beethoven's String Quartet in Eb Op 74 'Harp'.

The proceeds from the concert at Malvern Forum Theatre will be split between Relate and Malvern Theatres Equipment appeal.

The Dante Quartet, comprising Krysia Osostowicz, Matthew Truscott, Judith Busbridge and Pierre Doumenge, will perform at 7.30pm on Thursday, August 21.

Tickets are £10 from the box office on 01684 892277.
