A CONCERNED animal lover is warning people of the perils of leaving pets in the sun after her beloved bunny suffered sunstroke.

Rachel Birch, of Manor Close, Stourport, said her pet rabbit Bubble became ill during last week's spell of hot weather and a vet confirmed her symptoms were consistent with sunstroke.Rachel Birch with pet rabbit Bubble. who had sunstroke.

The 32-year-old part-time sales adviser said the five-year-old Netherland Dwarf "looked dead" after being left out in her hutch during the hot weather.

She added although Bubble was well on the way to a full recovery she wanted to warn other people to change their rabbits' water a couple of times a day.

Miss Birch added nursing Bubble back to health was a time-consuming process.

"I soaked her with cold water and had to feed her water every hour through a syringe," she said.

An RSPCA spokesperson said all animals occasionally suffered from sunstroke, but were normally healthy as long as they had shelter and water.
