TENTATIVE talks have taken place at Per-shore Town FC to install a permanent reminder of the service given to the club by Cyril Milward who died earlier this month.

Mr Milward, who was 79, collapsed and died while attending a function at the club on Sunday, July 13.

He was the club's press officer for many years after also acting as chairman, secretary and manager of Pershore United prior to the merging of three clubs in 1988 during more than half-a-century's involvement with the town's team.

"Cyril probably stands head and shoulders above everyone else in terms of service to Pershore Town Football Club," said chairman Anthony Cosnett.

"It's already been discussed that a permanent reminder of his work be made but that's something that all the club's members will get the chance to talk about further.

"Cyril touched everybody that knew him and it would be fitting if his memory is preserved at a club that was a huge part of his life."

Mr Milward's funeral took place at Pershore Abbey on Monday. He leaves a wife Phyllis, and children Sandra, Carol and Philip .
