RESIDENTS who want to object or back planning applications will soon have the chance to influence decision-makers face-to-face.
Wyre Forest District Council is to offer people the opportunity to have their say at meetings of the planning (development control) committee, which determines applications, from September.
The chance to speak will be available to objectors or supporters, with the applicant offered a right of reply where necessary.
The present system only allows people to submit their comments on plans affecting them in writing.
The new guidelines have been approved by the district council's executive, which were due to be rubber-stamped by full council last night. "The council is committed to extending public involvement in the planning process," says a report to councillors.
