WORCESTER City have taken midfielder Paul Carty off the transfer list.
The 33-year-old former Bromsgrove Rovers player has been rewarded by manager John Barton for his fine form in the second half of the season.
Carty, a summer signing from Hednesford Town, struggled to make an impact early in the season after having to play at full-back. He was put on the list shortly after Barton's arrival, and went on loan to Nuneaton for a month.
But on his return he moved into midfield and recovered his form.
Barton told supporters at an open forum at the club last night: "In the last two or three months he is probably close to being our best player along with Martin Weir. He wants to stay at the club."
Barton told fans he would not make rash predictions about how they would fare this season. "We have assessed everything and there is no reason why we can't go on and show some vast improvement."
