CRISIS club Bromsgrove Rovers have suffered a fresh blow after three of their directors resigned.

Phil Baker, Tony Partridge and Tom Herbert quit after an emergency board meeting last night, reducing the number of directors at the club to six.

The trio issued a joint statement which said: "We have endeavoured to ensure that the club was well run for the benefit of players and supporters and financially stable, with the principal intention of trying to bring about success on the pitch. Unfortunately we no longer feel that we can make a contribution to these objectives at board level and have found it necessary to resign."

Chief executive Pat Bannister was disappointed by their decision, with Rovers facing a winding-up order over an £18,000 Customs and Excise bill in Liverpool on Monday.

"The directors were asked if they could financially contribute towards paying the bill, but certain directors felt they couldn't do that."
