THE postponement of Saturday's match ag-ainst Luton was a bitter disappointment to our players -- but we've just had to accept it and move on.

The unexpected blank day has left us with a three-week break from Division Three action, but we're delighted Stourport Swifts have agreed to visit us tomorrow night in the quarter-final of the Wor-cestershire Senior Cup.

Obviously, it's not quite the same. We aren't going to get 3,500 to 4,000 watching us like we would have done on Saturday and it's not going to give the same buzz to the players. But it is a chance for them to get another match into their legs because three weeks without league action is a long time.

When you get a situation like last Saturday it does deflate things in terms of the excitement that had been building up for the game.

People were looking forward to seeing Luton, who are one of the fancied teams. I think there was a genuine belief that we would have given them a tough game.

Our players had gained a lot of confidence from the recent run of four league wins and they knew Luton would be a big test. But they were quietly confident that they would put up a good show.

Our next two league matches are at Exeter on December 15 and Halifax the following Saturday.

Away games are always difficult but it will be a long time before our fans see us at Aggborough again in the league which is a shame because the Luton match would have been an occasion.

With the kind of break we are experiencing it means there's a chance for a number of injuries to clear up, but I think we'll lose a little bit of match sharpness because there's only so much you can do on the training pitch.

With tomorrow's cup tie being recognised as a first team game it will count as Danny Williams one-match ban and the second of Tony Bird's three-match suspension. That means he'll be available for the Halifax game.

I went to watch Exeter play at Shrewsbury on Saturday and Gary Barnett went to see Halifax at Cheltenham, so at least Saturday's postponement allowed us to run the rule over our next opponents.

Just a word now about my Division Three manager of the month award for November. It's always nice to get awards but really you have got to give the players a lot of credit for the honour.

The response from the players has been good and they have certainly changed things around since we lost at Carlisle on October 20. I think the award is recognition for everybody.
