TRIBUTES have poured in for a Kidderminster Harriers director who died at home aged 61 after 18 years serving on the board.

Graham "Rocky" Lane, who died from a long-running heart problem, was found dead at his home in Stanklyn Lane, Kidderminster, on Tuesday morning.

Club vice-chairman Colin Youngjohns, a close friend for many years, said: "Although we knew Graham was unwell it has still come as a big shock to everyone at the club.

"Rocky was one of those people who you could rely on, the type of guy you would want alongside you in the trenches.

"He has been with the club through the good and bad times and was an integral part of helping the club to progress from a non-league minnow to a Football League club. He will be sorely missed."

Mr Lane's son Richard said: "He suffered his first heart attack aged 45 and has had continual problems since.

"Dad was known as Rocky for his football skills. He captained the Brintons football and cricket teams when he was younger and he also worked at Tomkinsons and at a Warwick carpet firm before beginning what was his current job as a partner in a loss-adjusting business."

Mr Lane also leaves his mother Vera, four sisters, two brothers, daughter Victoria and grandsons William and Harrison.

Funeral details were being finalised as the Shuttle/Times and News went to press. Funeral directors, Edwin Harris and Sons, can be contacted on 01562 822625. Donations instead of flowers will be given to the British Heart Foundation.

A minute's silence will be held in memory of Mr Lane before Kidderminster's match against Plymouth Argyle at Aggborough on Saturday.
