BROMSGROVE Rovers' future is safe for the time being after the club averted a winding-up order.

The club has been put into administration, which prevents it being served with winding-up orders.

That enabled yesterday's order over an unpaid £18,000 HM Customs and Excise bill, due to be heard at a court in Liverpool, to be put on hold.

That has also enabled chief executive Pat Bannister to finally complete his takeover of the club from former chairman Stuart Arnold after a two-year battle.

As part of the process, the club's new Director of Football Steve Daniels will take over the running of team affairs from caretaker bosses Eric McManus and Paul Madders, who have been in charge of the Dr Martens League Western Division strugglers since George Rooney's departure in October.

Madders has left the club, but McManus will remain involved with Rovers to help set up a proposed new youth academy at the club.

In addition, a deadline set by the Football Association for Rovers to secure a new lease for their Victoria Ground home has been put back a month to May 1.

A relieved Bannister said: "Hopefully we can see some light at the end of the tunnel now.

"We now have control of the club and obviously we need the lease. Once that is in place then other investors can come on board."
