Redditch ended Evesham United's unbeaten start to the season with an emphatic 3-0 triumph on Monday.

Two goals in the opening 17 minutes from Paul Molloy and Ross Knight put the visitors in the ascendancy as they put one over on their derby rivals.

Recent recruit Nicky Cross capped an impressive game with Redditch's third goal just seconds after substitute Jan Mulders had seen Mel Watson push aside his 74th minute spot kick.

This was after another replacement, Paul Burton, had been hauled down by Darren Rogers when clear on goal.

Redditch served notice of their intentions when James Cope volleyed over in the opening minute, but Molloy wasn't as wasteful after eight minutes when his thumping header from Knight's free kick sent the net bulging.

The lead was doubled seven minutes later when Knight nodded in a Cross centre at the far post.

Redditch defended in numbers but rode their luck after the break as Matt Coppin and Steve McCartan both delayed shooting with the visitors' goal at their mercy.

Adey sent a long punt downfield and Burton was onto it in a flash as Rogers misjudged the bounce. The resulting miss proved costly as Cross clinched the points.
