Bedworth (0) 1 REDDITCH UNITED (2) 3

FA Cup 1st Qualifying Round

BRING on the Albion is the cry from Valley Stadium after Redditch United set up a meeting against Nigel Clough's Burton Albion following this hard fought victory over Bedworth.

Reds were given the perfect start on three minutes when, from their first attack, they took the lead through the on-fire Adam Nicholls with a 12-yard drive into the corner of the net.

Nicholls' fourth goal of the season was indebted to the hard work of Jamie Hart, who latched on to loose ball just inside the Bedworth half and ran to the by line, shaking off the attentions of the home defence, to square the ball to the midfielder.

Bedworth could have responded before Redditch doubled the lead, with a number of free kicks around the Reds' penalty area, but the home side wasted the opportunities.

They were made to pay on 19 minutes when substitute Mark Smith made an instant impact after replacing Stuart Randall.

Having advanced down the line Smith whipped a cross from the left, which the home keeper Chambers should have dealt with, but he missed the ball allowing Ross Knight the easiest of headers.

Bedworth attempted to get back into the match and dominated possession but could find no way past Dave Adey who pulled of a fine save from Paul Bedder and was quick to react to a deflected effort.

Reds made two more substitutions at half time as Paul Molloy and Nicholls limped out of the game to be replaced by Jan Mulders and Dean Tilley.

The changes upset the visitors' rhythm, allowing Bedworth to force the Reds onto the back foot.

Robbie Beard should have reduced the Greenbacks' arrears on 54 minutes when he missed an open goal from inside the six-yard box.

Just after the hour Bedworth got the goal they had been after when former Reds player Christy McKenzie powered home a header from Paul O'Brien's cross.

Reds finally sealed victory in the 90th minute, capitalising on the spaces in the Bedworth defence, James Cope lifting the ball over the on-rushing keeper following more fine work by Hart
