I WAS both delighted and relieved that I am not alone in my disgust and annoyance at the belting out of so-called background music, not only in the Kingfisher Centre but also in most of the shops.

The question I put to assistants is: "Is this din to benefit the customer or the staff?"

The answer is generally a blank expression.

I can only suggest the pressure be maintained by the public, even to asking for the location of the nearest aspirin.
