SWIMMING: Wyre Forest are toasting a great success after winning the overall top club trophy at the Worcester County relay event in Wolverhampton on Sunday.

The district also gained the award for the best boys' team and were narrowly edged out of first place in the girls' competition.

Eight wins were recorded with the 15 to 16-year-olds triumphing in all their races, as did the 17 to 18-year-old girls.

First places, girls: 15/16 medley and freestyle (Sian Griffiths, Hannah Wear, Amy Smith, Emma Levitt), 17/18 medley and freestyle (Tracey Billingham, Rebekah Lane, Rebecca Short, Emma Cashmore), open (Levitt, Wear, Smith, Donna Wilson).

Boys: 13/14 medley (Kevin Wall, Jonathon Baylie, Daniel Baylie, Chris Wildgust), 15/16 medley (Ben Perry, Nick Carmichael, Richard Carter, Adam Cotgrave), freestyle (Cotgrave, Carter, Matthew Turton, Perry).

Second places, girls: 11/12 medley (Patricia Webb, Iskra Lawrence, Victoria Wassell, Aimee Cook); boys: 11/12 medley (Paul Ingenthron, Ben Barnaby, Robert Smith, Philip Harrison), freestyle (Harrison, R Smith, Edward Ruscoe, Ingenthron), 13/14 freestyle (Wall, J Baylie, D Baylie, Wildgust).

Third place, boys: 9/10 freestyle (Alex Thorley, Ryan Thorogood, Harry Macbeth, Jack Dyer).

l A depleted Forest team finished third in the second tier final of the Mercian League at Bromsgrove on Saturday.

Swimmers with Midland district times were excluded but Forest's 14-year-olds still recorded eight first places.
