A TALENTED musician who carried out sex attacks on teenage boys has been jailed for two years at Worcester Crown Court.

Kevin Drinkwater met victims through band practice and even groped them as he gave them driving lessons.

One 15-year-old told police: "He treated me almost as a prostitute," said Sir Andrew Watson, prosecuting.

The defendant gave the boys gifts including a £450 trumpet, a computer and golf clubs.

Drinkwater, aged 46, of Retreat Street, Astwood Bank, pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecent assault.

Two boys were 15 and the third 14 when the offences took place between 1990 and 1997.

Judge Andrew Geddes said it was clear from the victims' statements that the harm they were caused would last the rest of their lives.

He ordered Drinkwater to register as a sex offender for 10 years and disqualified him from working with children for life.

Victims reported they felt guilty, dirty and worthless and one displayed disruptive behaviour afterwards.

Geoffrey Clough, defending, handed in references to the judge which showed Drinkwater was once a pillar of the community and an accomplished trombone player.

But he had lost his job, his marriage had broken up and he had been visiting a psychologist to understand his behaviour.
