A MEN-only race to raise money for Cancer Research UK's work into testicular cancer has changed venue and time.

The 10km race, which was originally set to take place at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre running track and woods at 2pm, is now scheduled for 3pm on Sunday, July 27, at The Countryside Centre, near County Hall, Worcester.

"We are still going to use the Nunnery High School fields but not any part of the running track at Nunnery Wood Sports Centre," said race organiser Michael Skilbeck of Warndon Villages, Worcester.

"People need to meet up at County Hall before the race takes place."

Mr Skilbeck, aged 22, was inspired to stage the event, called Mencan 2003, by his stepfather, who survived the disease 10 years ago.

There will also be a dog show called Scruffies on the day where people can enter any pet dogs they have for a £2 fee, as well as an array of stalls.

Anyone who wishes to take part in the run will be charged a £4 entry fee, and should call Mr Skilbeck on 07958 688274.

People who wish to run a stall on the day, donate items for the stalls or enter their dog in the Scruffies competition should also call Mr Skilbeck.

Rejected

THE design of a car showroom and workshop proposed by Listers of Worcester has been judged unsuitable for a site at Main Road, Hallow, on the edge of a conservation area.

A Malvern Hills planning committee has turned down the plan, which had been recommended for approval by planning officers.

The scheme had drawn strong objections from Hallow Parish Council and a number of residents, who felt that the development was inappropriate for the village.
