PERHAPS F L Jones misunderstands my point regarding immigration (You Say, June 27).
I agree that past and present government treatment of servicemen has been nothing short of appalling. The cover-up over Gulf War Syndrome and the issue of equal pay for Gurkhas are but two examples.
I also agree that the asylum system is abused. However, my original twofold point was that immigration is not responsible for all our ills and that many immigrants have made a valid economic contribution to this country. I stand by these assertions.
As to my "tabloid" reference, I was speaking of one publication in particular - do I really have to spell it out for you?
