MARK Holtom, drayman, Studley, was charged with being asleep while in charge of a horse and cart on the highway at Studley on February 19.

He pleaded guilty.

Pc Hall said defendant had a rug over his head and he walked by his side for a mile and then woke him up.

His Lordship remarked that being asleep while in charge of a horse and cart was a dangerous practice but as this was defendant's first offence, he would be fined 5s and the costs.
