THE whole of the village of Astwood Bank has been "plunged into darkness" because the gas streetlights have been switched off before the new electric lamp standards have been erected.
Councillor H J Paramore protested "most strongly" about this treatment at Monday's meeting of the Redditch Urban Council's public works committee.
He also complained that the erection of the standards along the top road to Astwood Bank was progressing very slowly.
