IT'S a dog's life for one hapless hound with a passion for cornflakes!

The Jack Russell terrier forgot to paws for thought before leaping in front of Evening News reporter Leda Reynolds' car as she drove near the Lickey Hills in Worcestershire on Saturday.

But fortunately, she managed to swerve and the dog continued weaving between the wheels of other cars along the road.

"He didn't realise he'd had a brush with death and as I got out of the car he came running up to me," said Leda.

"He was wearing a barrel identity tag but unfortunately half of it was missing so I had no idea who he belonged to.

"I know dogs are stolen and often dumped when thieves realise they can't be used for breeding because they have been neutered. I was afraid that was what had happened.

"I took him home and rang Pet Search in Worcester and Malvern, which reunites missing animals with their owners, as well as Worcester police, but they hadn't had any reports of a dog fitting his description."

But the dog, whom she dubbed Kellogg because of his passion for the breakfast cereal, had not been stolen. He'd simply wandered off through the open gate of his owner's home near the Lickey Hills.

His owner had heard Leda on a local radio station and had contacted Birmingham Dogs' Home which had her details.

"He was delighted to go home - and so was I - it meant I could enjoy my cornflakes in peace!" said Leda.
