A last minute change of course to a particularly hilly circuit failed to blunt the speed of the United Kingdom's top time trialist Stuart Dangerfield in the Charlie Greig Memorial 10-mile time trial promoted by Worcester St Johns Cycling Club.

Dangerfield, from Wolverhampton and the holder of several national titles, blasted roung the sun baked circuit in 20.59 easily beating Stourbridge's Gavin Pardoe who clocked 22.15.

Third spot went to Worcester's Adrian Bird riding for the Arctic 2000 team who completed the circuit in 22.37.

More local names filled the top ten with Malvern's Brian Boswell in sixth with 23.39 and John Callaghan of Worcester in 10th place with 25.04. Top lady was Ludlow's Wendy Hall in a time of 25.18.

The club's Tuesday evening events continued with a 10-mile event at Peopleton.

The hot weather had given way to cooler and very windy conditions by then, but Gavin Poupart (Parrot Print) raced round in 24.12.

St Johns duo Mike Potter and Dave Walker fought a close race for second and thirs with Potter coming out on top with 25.32 to Walkers 25.45.

Top veteran was Pete Jansen with 26.44 and Sarah Emmerson continued in the top lady spot with 28.28.

The Parrot Print team's three Worcester riders finished down the field at the Central Region Championships at Mentmore, near Leighton Buzzard.

Steve Dring was 11th and Gavin Poupart 13th after both dropped from the leading bunch with 30km left of the 130km event.

Paul Dring, recovering from injury, came home 21st in a field of 58 riders.
