SHOOTING: Forty years of Stourport Pistol and Rifle Club were celebrated with an open competition for muzzle-loading pistols and rifles at the Bonemill range.

The home team won the glass trophy by a narrow margin of just two points, ahead of the Welsh Muzzle Loaders and the Muzzle Loaders Association of Great Britain.

Secretary Terry Jackson collected the trophy from proud club chairman Ken Fellows at the competitive event which attracted people from all over the United Kingdom.

Stourport's Philip Carter won two rifle and two pistol events.

Carter was supported in the pistol events by David Jenkins, Bernard Cooper, John Graham, Gary Meusz, Nigel Locke, Fred Kirkham and Robert Sparrey.

Fred Boulton, who competes and shoots regularly for Stourport despite living in Wolverhampton, also won a medal for the home club.

Competitive pistol and rifle shooting have been held at the Bonemill range for 40 years.

Some founder members still shoot and compete for the club which caters for males and females of all ages who range from novices to internationals.

There are also facilities for the disabled and plenty of car parking space.
