VIP GROUP: Will be meeting at the Joseph Webb Hall, Chapel Lane, Mickleton, on Tuesday, June 10, from 11am to 12.30pm. These informal meetings offer an opportunity for visually impaired people in Mickleton and the surrounding villages to meet in a relaxed atmosphere.

PARISH COUNCIL: The monthly meeting was held in King Georges Hall. Coun L Stowe chaired the meeting.

The election of officers preceded the meeting previous chairman, vice chairman and other officers were elected en bloc.

Coun T Begg has resigned as a parish councillor. There are two vacancies. Coun M Faucett wrote to ask if he could be re-elected, as he was unable at the time to mail his re-election papers. The closing date of the vacancies has been extended.

Matters arising: The extra street lights have been sited in Cedar Road and Gloucester Lane. The Cedar Road lights are switched on but not so Gloucester Lane. There was some concern expressed about the nearness to the road of one light in Gloucester Lane as the width of the lane was less due to stones being placed outside buildings.

The odd job man, Mr C Gibbard, has begun work and already the Plantation is looking good. The metal spike has not yet received attention in the school alleyway. The Richard Porter Trust will be written to again.

The goal posts in the junior playing fields have been concreted in.

Public time: Col Furtardo reported problems in the church alley way behind the houses in Ballards Close and The Kings Arms. The broken fence and overhanging tree will be inspected. Mrs J Kinchin asked what had happened to the protection bollard missing from the Plantation since work had been carried out there by Glos Highways - because someone in a vehicle had knocked it over - damaging only the tarmac it was situated in. The department will be written to requesting its return so that the wall will be protected.

One of the three new district councillors, Mrs Sue Jepson, of the Campden Vale Ward, gave a short talk to introduce herself.

The North Cotswold Police are holding a meeting on June 9 at Mickleton Primary School.

Sub-committee reports: Coun J Franklin for the Hedgehog bus reported that they are still short of volunteer drivers, and that a new bus should be delivered in August for the villagers to inspect and in September the older mini bus is to be sold.

Correspondence: Mrs D Leadbetter sent in a letter of thanks for the repairs to the seat given in memory of her late husband.

From GCC informing us that during June 2-20, the Campden Road is receiving essential repairs.

Judging for the Bledisloe Cup takes place between June 7 and 21.
