A COUPLE aim to scale the dizzy heights of the Andes for charity.
Steve Jones and Gema Diaz will spend eight days hiking across the difficult terrain of the South American mountain range and through the Ecuadorian rainforest to raise money for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The duo, who both work at the Giffard Hotel on High Street, Worcester, will also trek up the dormant Cotopaxi volcano, the highest volcano in the Andes.
Gema said the November 15 trip was originally planned because she wanted to do something special for her 30th birthday, but she recently found out a friend had cancer so she chose the charity.
"I am the type of person who would prefer to sleep in a hotel and soon I'll be sleeping in a tent - it'll be a challenge," she said.
Gema, who is a reception manager, and 41-year-old Steve, who is the bar manager, have so far raised £500 towards the £2,500 trip.
