JOHN Brain welcomed Steven Vile to Sixways as the fly-half completed his signing for Wor-cester Rugby Club's promotion challenge.

The 31-year-old met up with his coach and team-mates during a training session yesterday after jetting to England from New Zealand.

The former Bristol stand-off, however, is unlikely to be involved at Otley on Saturday providing Craig Chalmers and Tony Yapp stay fit.

Vile was born in Australia but moved to New Zealand at an early age. He is a proud Kiwi who has represented his country at schools level and also played for Auckland.

Brain was delighted with his latest capture who will boost the squad as Worcester bid to win their place in the Zurich Premiership.

"Steven comes here to provide insurance," said Brain. "He is an experienced player at Premiership level after his time with Bristol.

"We need insurance at number 10. Hopefully, Steve's arrival will affect both our number 10s in a positive manner.

"We will assess Steven's fitness this week but we have a Warriors game coming up and a cup match at Moseley so there is a chance he could be involved in them."
