THE destiny of The Soccer Site Malvern Football League title is now firmly in the hands of Green Dragon.

They were winners in the clash between the top two teams when they entertained Bull Allstars, who had led the league virtually since day one of the season.

Green Dragon went level on points with their rivals but have the advantage of two games in hand and now only need four points from their remaining three games to take the title.

The first 30 minutes saw a fairly even game with Bull Allstars having slightly the better of the play. However a great free kick from 25 yards by Green Dragon's Matt Beale found the top corner of the net giving the keeper no chance. Green Dragon increased their lead five minutes later when again it was Matt Beale who hit a good shot from distance but this time he needed the assistance of a deflection off a defender, which looped the ball over the keeper's head and into the net.

The second half saw Green Dragon on top and it was no surprise when, following a good passing move, Jason Westmacott volleyed the ball home from the edge of the area. The same player was on hand to head a through ball over the advancing keeper to make it 4-0. Bull Allstars were then reduced to 10 men following the dismissal of Jamie James but pulled a goal back through Jamie Gladwin for a 4-1 scoreline.

Bull Allstars appear to have paid the price of having to play so many games at the end of the season, which combined with injuries and appearances for other teams has seen some of their players having to play six games in eight days.

This should not detract from Green Dragon's achievement as they too have had to play numerous night matches following their successes in cups earlier in the season but they have managed to finish the season strongly.

Club AC 30 confirmed their third place with a 4-1 victory over visitors Talbot Head. Their goal scorers were Jason Payton-Smith (two), Arron Parr and an own goal with the visitor's response coming from Lee Watts.

Morgan Aero 8 returned to winning ways with a 5-0 home victory over Kempsey United Reserves, Their goals came from Michael Griffiths, Gareth Ingles, Marcus Spencer and two from Andy Noon.

In the other Soccer Site Malvern League fixture visitors Fromes Hill took the points with a 4-2 victory over Bell Inn 98 with goals from James Dean (two), Neil Gardener and a penalty from James Howard. Bell Inn's goals came from Ashley Jones and Chris Grubb.

The previous Thursday night games saw emphatic victories by Green Dragon and Kempsey United Reserves.

Green Dragon beat local rivals Fromes Hill 5-0 with goals from Matt Beale, Darren Lynch, Craig Turbill, Jason Westmacott and Stewart Graham. Kempsey United Reserves beat St Peters 12-1 with goals from Alex Freeman, Luke Yeomans, Daniel Moore, Andy Martin, a hat-trick from Ryan Leigh and not to be out-done by his fellow striker, five from Steve Freear with the solitary response coming from a Rees Watkins penalty.

Tuesday night's league games saw Green Dragon move closer to the title with a 5-1 victory at Brewery. On a hard bumpy pitch which made ball control difficult, Brewery held out until the 16th minute when Luke Johnson beat the offside trap to open the scoring. Green Dragon increased their lead when John Phillips was on hand to score his first goal of the season following a good passing move. Stewart Graham made it 3-0 just before half time.

The second half saw Brewery stage a fight back and they caught Green Dragon on the break several times eventually pulling a goal back when Pete Millard headed past his own keeper. Brewery were unlucky a few minutes later when Patrick Locke's shot beat the keeper but struck the foot of the post before rebounding to safety. Dean Kibble then raced through only to see his shot go narrowly over the bar.

Green Dragon then recovered their composure and scored twice as result of headers from corners, firstly Stewart Graham powered the ball home and then substitute Darren Lynch was unmarked as he headed home. Brewery did not give up and Dean Kibble again went close with a shot after a good run. Brewery were far from disgraced by this performance with keeper Alan Barnes having a fine game.

Kempsey United Reserves took the points when they visited Fromes Hill and won 4-3 with goals from M Lindsey, A Davies, Lee Burton and an own goal. The home sides scorers were James Dean, Dave Eaton and Andy Davies.

In the only other game Madresfield and Fromes Hill shared the points with a 1-1 draw, Madresfield's goal coming from Graham Jones.
