Littleton 2, Chelmsley Town 1

LITTLETON completed their Midland Combination League programme with a far from convincing win against the side at the foot of Division Two.

Indeed, had it not been for a commanding performance from Adam Moss in goal, Chelmsley might well have won the game.

With the recent rain having taken some of the bounce out of the ground, both teams attempted to play football.

Littleton created the first chance when Simon Brain cut in from the left but his shot went over the bar. Mark Gledhill was then put through but brave work by Lee Cozens in the visitors' goal denied him.

Terry Adcock replied for Chelmsley but his shot was well saved by Moss.

Two goals in six minutes just before the interval put Littleton in command. Receiving from the left, Brain created space with a neat sidestep before converting from the edge of the box.

Nick Burrows was then on hand to convert from close-range after Brain's shot was blocked.

Littleton seemed to think that they had done enough and the second half was dominated by Chelmsley.

Adam Gibbs, up for a corner, was just wide with a header, while Steven Moss shot past a post when presented with an open goal.

The same player then saw his penalty saved in spectacular style by his namesake in the Littleton goal.

In a brief attack Littleton almost increased their lead but Gledhill struck the bar from close-range.

Adam Jenkins reduced the arrears 14 minutes from time but Littleton managed to hold out for their 20th league win of the season.

The game was sponsored by New Look Windows Doors and Conservatories.

Littleton's final game of the season is at Common Road on Saturday, May 17 (6.30) against Inkberrow in the final of the Evesham Hospital Cup.
