SIR Alex Ferguson's dressing room tantrum which injured star player David Beckham has brought back painful memories for Worcester City manager John Barton.

The St George's Lane boss booted a teapot in anger during the half-time interval at Crawley Town last season and ended up bruising his toe on the spout.

However, it had no impact on his team who lost the match 1-0 to a goal conceded in the first minute.

Though Barton hurt himself at least he avoided injuring any City players but Beckham was not so lucky when his Manchester United boss's furious kick at a boot resulted in a cut above the England captain's eye.

"Fergie has taken a lot of stick but there is always a reason why you do it," said Barton.

"Often on reflection you wish you hadn't have done these things or done them in a different way but football is a very emotional game.

"It doesn't hang around for you and managers live and die by their results and I don't know any manager that doesn't want to do a good job."

City's title hopes faded further last night after Dr Martens Premier Division leaders Tamworth beat Weymouth 3-0 to extend their lead over the St George's Lane club to 11 points.
