Woodrush 26 pts Cleobury Mortimer 10
WITH just one game to go Cleobury Mortimer must settle for fourth place in North Midlands One following this defeat to fifth place Woodrush.
Going into the game without number eight Ian King, top points scorer and fly-half Colin Smith, full back Rob Norris plus wingers Richard Skidmore and Mark Little proved too big a handicap. In-spite of their replacements performing well they did not have the required fire-power to break down their resilient opponents.
Alan Shields slotted a penalty to give the visitors a deserved lead in the early stages but Woodrush responded with two of their own to lead 6-3. Willie Bache scrambled over to give Cleobury the lead, Shields adding the extra points. Cleobury's hopes were dashed as the home side responded with an unconverted try.
The second period was a stop-go affair and try as they might the visitors had to concede best as the home team ran in two more tries, plus a penalty.
