CRAIG Hudson will be released from Worcester Rugby Club on health grounds.

The giant winger, who has been a peripheral figure at Sixways this season, will return to New Zealand after only joining Worcester in the summer.

The 6ft 6in, 17 stone powerhouse has been struck down with chronic fatigue syndrome which leaves him unable to play or train.

Hudson made just four starts for the Warriors following his summer move and, after doctors advised the 23-year-old more rest was needed to cure the problem, Worcester made the decision to release the Kiwi.

A Sixways statement today said: "Worcester Rugby Club today announced that they will release New Zealand born wing Craig Hudson from his contract at the end of February. Craig has struggled with an illness for over three months, which has prevented him from training or playing rugby.

"On medical advice he will require a further period of rest from full training to completely recover his health.

"Craig intends to return to New Zealand and in due course to resume his rugby career there. Worcester managers, coaches and players wish him all the best for the future."

Meanwhile, Worcester have slashed the entrance fee for tonight's United match at Sixways. Worcester take on North-ampton (7.30pm) with the gate price dropping to £2 for adults and free for under 18s.

Loan signing James Parkes goes straight into the line-up and, with a weekend injury to hooker Chris Hall, the Saracens star could yet force a way into the first team as the Warriors travel to Bedford on Saturday.

James Brown continues his quest for full fitness with a run-out while Will Wigram gets a chance to impress at centre.

"It is a good opportunity for players," said Worcester's director of rugby John Brain. "James Parkes has the ideal chance to settle himself into the team and get used to the calls without the pressure of a league game. With Chris Hall unfit at present, he is in the mix for Saturday."

Brain was today awaiting news on Tim Walsh's hamstring injury. The Australian fly half limped out of Worcester's 57-5 weekend win over Manchester and will tomorrow undergo a scan.

"He is having the scan on Tuesday so that we can get all the information possible beforehand," added Brain. "At present I would say he is doubtful for Bedford but I don't think it's too bad. We are not in the region of a six-week absence which we are all getting used to at Sixways!"
