KIDDERMINSTER Harriers manager Ian Britton is certainly coming up trumps with his selection of loan players this season.

And he's convinced his decision to bring in loan performers when necessary will not hinder the development of younger squad players who are aiming to make a major impact at Aggborough.

So far this term Britton has signed four players on loan - Mark Clyde, John Melligan and Kenny Coleman from Wolverhampton Wanderers together with Andy Bishop from Walsall.

During their time at Aggborough all four have made valuable contrib-utions, including striker Bishop who was drafted in this week and notched an equaliser for Harriers in their 2-2 Nationwide League Division Three draw against Torquay United at Plainmoor on Tuesday night.

Britton said: "The lads we've borrowed have done really well, yet some say that they perhaps under-mine the development of some of our lads - that's rubbish. Bishop is further down the road to becoming a top striker than someone like Matt Lewis for instance.

"I am not saying Matt won't become a fine player but Andrew is closer to the finished article. The competition for places that loan signings automatically create can only be a good thing for the desire and the development of players in the squad.

"Supporters are right to ask the question about our own players, but I can assure you that when they are ready for the Third Division I'll play them."
