BROMSGROVE would soon be featured on the world squash map when a new club built by town building firm William Weaver opened in Worcester Road. The town's MP Hal Miller was to perform the opening ceremony.

IT had taken ten years to get him, but international star Dudley Moore had finally agreed to come to perform in Bromsgrove. Backed by members of the Harry Stoneham Five who regularly featured on the Michael Parkinson TV show, he was to make four appearances at the Engine House, Tardebigge.

A BROMSROVE family, including a two-year-old child, faced eviction from their council house in Grafton Crescent, Charford, for not abiding by the rule forbidding the owning of more than one dog. The council had issued a "you or them to go ultimatum" to the Neal family which had four poodles. Mum, Hazel, said they had kept at least two dogs at the house for the past 11 years without causing problems and could not bear to have them destroyed.

NEIGHBOURS passing Mr and Mrs Wood's garden at the Flats in Bromsgrove were astonished to see giant exotic sprout plants topped by huge leaves and which were almost as tall as the couple.
