MALVERN RFC's Youth Development Section has achieved the Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation and will be receiving the Sport England Clubmark award later this month.

The RFU Community Rugby Department introduced the Active Sports Seal of Approval accreditation programme with the Sport England Clubmark scheme as a method of examining, maintaining and improving the provision of rugby in the youth section of an Active Sports rugby club.

Building upon current good practice, the accreditation aims to recognise the effort and achievement of those clubs that reach, maintain and improve on the required standard of a club committed to the Active Sports programme.

Gary Tolley, who is the chairman of youth rugby at Malvern RFC said: "The YDS have been working towards this award for two years and once the paperwork has been processed by the RFU, full certification will be ours. It is a great achievement for the YDS and the club as a whole.

"It demonstrates the commitment of the club to become a full member of community sport and to work along side the local authorities and schools to increase the participation of young people in sport across the Malvern Hills district."
