BOSS Dave Titterton has launched an audacious bid to bring former skipper Asa Charlton back to Stourport Swifts on loan.

The versatile 24-year-old, who joined Worcester City earlier this season, is battling back to match fitness after a groin injury.

Titterton hopes counterpart John Barton will next week allow Charlton to get vital games at Walshes Meadow despite a growing injury list at City.

It could prove a triple swoop for Swifts who have completed the delayed signing of Racing Club Warwick striker Richard Ball.

And Titterton, whose side visit Bedworth in the Dr Martens Western Division on Saturday, is due to speak to Oldbury defender Phil Male today over a possible move.

He said: "It certainly won't be a permanent thing with Asa. But it will help him get back to fitness and help us in the meantime.

"It's up to John Barton though. He has a lot of injuries so he may need him to stay at Worcester."

Swifts hope to have striker Michael Moore (groin) and long-serving Simon Marsh (foot) back in the squad from injury at the weekend.

But skipper Kerry Giddings and defender Steve Ulfig will be banned for the game after collecting five yellow cards.

Titterton's men have lost their last four games, including a 2-1 home defeat to improving Cinderford on Saturday.

But Swifts have been creating plenty of chances and one of their two league wins was a 1-0 victory at home to Bedworth last month.

Titterton declared: "The Cinderford manager admitted at half-time that they could have been 6-1 down.

"I would be worried if we weren't creating chances but we are and we must take confidence from it.

"We beat Bedworth at home quite comfortably but Saturday will be a different story.

"We haven't had the results but the performances have been good. I would be happy if we played badly on Saturday and won 1-0.

"It would bring us within just a few points of Bedworth and take us away from Swindon Supermarine and Racing Club Warwick at the bottom."

Forward Andy Wright is on the bench in his comeback from a knee injury.

But defender Parfait Medou-Otye, still searching for a professional deal, has returned to France for a while to visit family.
