DEFENDING champions John Cook and Audrey Taylor were pipped for the 2003 title when Evesham staged the Whitehouse Cup, a prestigious foursomes medal competition.
Conditions were perfect for the club's first major cup event of the season and it proved a close run climax with the top trio separated by a mere half a point.
Husband and wife duo Bob and Jenny Diffin, playing off 20, were the winners with a net score of 73 to edge out John Curtis and Carol Yates (91-17-74), who were placed second on a countback from the 2002 champions (92-18-74).
Mother and son Enid and Christian Walker won the ball sweep after recording the solitary two.
