JUST over a week to go now. The big one is just around the corner and although we cannot wait, it's good that we have to.

This week was always going to be a vital one to get the various niggles and injuries out of the way before April 12. I remember the last time we played Rotherham back in November and we were swamped with injuries. Not this time.

We have a few players in the treatment room but that is just for general knocks. I myself have a groin problem but that should clear up by this weekend. Most of the players carrying knocks are taking it easy this week and I think we are very lucky to have this time to let our bodies recover. Rotherham won't have that chance as they have a game at the weekend, ironically at Wakefield, so I think we are fortunate to have the extra time.

Our visit to Wakefield was certainly an eventful one. We scored 55 points but unfortunately let in 36. My view is that you have to take the positives out of the match at this stage of the season. We weren't at our best in an attacking or defending sense but we still managed to record the biggest win at College Grove this season. Wakefield are not a bad side and it has to be remembered that the most points they'd conceded in a match at home before we arrived was just 22 against Coventry.

The defensive part was a little disappointing but when we look back, it was a good game to get out of the way and come back home with all five points. No matter how you try, you have always got the April 12 date in the back of your mind and after the amount of injuries suffered in our previous encounter with Wakefield, I think the boys maybe switched off a little in the second half.

We went from 31-15 up to 31-29 ahead and for me, sitting on the bench, the nerves were jangling a little. But credit to the boys. They went up a few gears, scored another few tries and finished the job off. That was very encouraging. Not so much that the boys went down a few gears but that they could hit the turbo boost when it mattered. It is not always easy to do that when you've taken your foot off the pedal but you could clearly see the acceleration.

In the end, to score 55 points when playing in patches is quite impressive. I'm happy with the result and, in some ways, the performance. Rotherham will have the game at Sixways on their mind this weekend when they go to College Grove. It will be interesting to see how they get on. I don't for a minute think they will lose to Wakefield but they will cause them a few problems if they are as organised as they were against us.

The players are already speculating just who will start the big one next week. It goes without saying that everyone wants to play in such an important match. The chance to make history doesn't come about every day. One of the most interesting decisions will be the fly half berth, I think.

A lot of the side picks itself now but the number 10 spot is a really tough choice to make. In such a tight match it could be that James Brown's pin-point kicking could be needed but then again Tim Walsh offers a real threat from his lightning pace. Craig Chalmers is also fit again now and when you need experience, he's the man who has done it all.

In the pack, Mark Gabey is just coming back from injury while Craig Quinnell was impressive at Wakefield so there are some interesting decisions to be made.

It will be fascinating to see who gets the nod. We will know next week and up until then I will be working hard on getting this injury right. Monday morning will show us just who is and who isn't available. One thing's for sure though. We're in a far better shape than we were in November and the confidence levels just couldn't be higher.
