INJURED striker Michael Moore is unlikely to be back in a Stourport Swifts shirt this season, according to boss Dave Titterton.

Moore was a big hope for Swifts when he signed in October but despite four goals and several man-of-the-match displays, the front-man has been hampered by fitness problems.

The latest injury to the former Derby County apprentice is a back complaint though he is not alone in being unavailable.

Titterton has a string of injuries and two suspensions to contend with though keeper Rob Clarke returns this weekend, probably as back-up to John Danby.

The Swifts manager revealed: "I think Michael needs a rest as he's been struggling with the injury for quite a bit. He's not going to get any better by playing.

"It's a shame because he's always scored goals when he's played but the problem is he's just not fit for long enough. I can't see him coming back this season.

"If I bring more people in now to cover for injuries, I am going to be overloaded with players."

Titterton must add rookie defender Alex Kilgour to the casualty list for three to four weeks with a twisted knee suffered in Saturday's 0-0 draw with Clevedon Town.

The result ended a four-match losing streak but loan signing Ashley Read was stretchered off.

Though the forward has sore ankles, he should be fit for Swifts' next Dr Martens Western Division game at leaders Merthyr Tydfil on Tuesday (7.45pm).

First, Titterton has arranged a friendly trip tonight to West Midlands League Division One North leaders Bilston (7.45pm).

Swifts' latest capture Duncan Willetts, a quick forward released by Premier Division Worcester, should be included after making his debut as a substitute against Clevedon.

Titterton said: "Duncan's a small lad who hasn't got a bad touch but has just been playing reserve-team football. He wants to improve and is local.

"The pleasing thing was that we kept Clevedon out. We created the most chances we have done for three or four games.

"We've got a plan to get something at Merthyr but it's going to take one hell of an effort with the squad we have available.

"They're a very strong, direct team. It works for them but it's not the way I would want my team to play football."

Swifts nearly shocked Merthyr at home in November before eventually losing 3-2 in a controversial clash.

Titterton added: "At times we made them look very second-rate by passing around them."
