A NEW face will be saying 'allo, allo, allo' to the media and public after taking up a community relations role at Kidderminster Police Station.

Caroline Schubert has been appointed media liaison and public relations officer at Kidderminster Police.

However, Mrs Schubert, who has been in the job for four weeks, said she will concentrate on the first part of her title in the coming months before developing the public relations side of her position.

She said: "I will settle in for a while and then look at ways in which we can let the public know about the initiatives and projects Kidderminster Police are involved with.

"Educating the public is important and relationships with any of the emergency services are important."

Before taking up her new position, she spent five years working for the Post Office, doing counter work in Birmingham.

She also spent two and a half years as a recruitment and liaison officer for the Ministry of Defence, as well as completing a two-year handwriting analyst course.

Mrs Schubert said: "I have had a mixed working life really but I have learned skills which help with communication so the new role with the police is very suitable.

"I haven't really had a logical sequence of jobs.

"In fact my only previous link with the police is the fact my husband spent seven years as a scenes of crime officer with West Midlands Police.

"That kept me in touch with what was going on and I have always been interested since so I hope this new job carries that on."

The 36-year-old, who lives in Offmore, Kidderminster, said her four weeks in her new job had been a success.

She added: "Everybody has been really helpful and there is a great atmosphere around the station.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time so far and expect to do so for the rest of the 12 months and then we will see what happens."

Mrs Schubert was educated at Stourbridge Girls High School before gaining A-level English at King Edward VI Form College in the town.

In her free time, Mrs Schubert enjoys relaxing with her husband and two young children.

Hobbies include gardening, creative photography and dog walking.

She said: "I like to relax, especially in the countryside, and that is one of the reasons we moved to Kidderminster.

"We think it is a beautiful rural area with lots of forestry and it makes a change having spent all my time growing up in Stourbridge."
