August 30 1902
WILLIAM Staite, a labourer of Childswickham, was summoned for using obscene language on August 8. PC Dainty stated that he heard the defendant using most indecent language outside the Sandys Arms. He was fined 5s and costs of 7s 6d.

PATROL leader John H Smithin, of the Beaver Patrol, has been awarded the silver cross for bravery in rescuing a girl from the River Avon at Cleeve Prior last September. The presentation is to take place at Scouts' headquarters on Tuesday at 7.30pm, when any friends of the scouts will be welcomed.

August 30 1952
A TEAM of young men, mostly from Malvern College, gave demonstrations of Cotswold Sword and Morris dances in the streets of Pershore, Defford, Eckington, Cropthorne and Fladbury on Wednesday. They were accompanied by a violinist, a clown, whose antics dressed as a woman greatly amused the crowd, and a collector who took round pieces of 'lucky' cake.

THE Richmond Sausage Co. which at this time last year was fighting for survival with the threat of redundancy hanging over its 500 employees, will be taking on extra staff when it moves to its new factory next year. The new building at Four Pools Industrial Estate off the Cheltenham Road, is rapidly taking shape. The metal framework of the main factory is already completed and work is continuing on the outer walls.
