SWIFT clean-up action has been taken after watchdogs slammed the disabled toilets at a health centre as "disgusting".

The toilets at Stourport Health Centre were "very unhygienic", according to the report by Kidderminster and District Community Health Council.

It said the building looked "tired and in need of total refurbishment" and also criticised the signs for the car park, a lack of parking spaces and added the waiting area needed more privacy.

Stourport Health Centre manager Brenda Sefton said immediate action had been taken.

She said the toilet chain had been lengthened so it could now be reached from a wheelchair, the old wooden seat replaced and discussions had taken place with the cleaning company.

"It's been greatly improved," she said. "I think the CHC would be quite pleased with it now. "

The report praised the reception area and the rooms which had been decorated. It also said the staff were "friendly and welcoming" and doing a marvellous job given the lack of resources.
