December 6, 1902

A MEETING of the creditors of Robert Heritage, market gardener of Wickhamford, Evesham, was held at the bankruptcy offices in Worcester on Monday morning. The causes of failure alleged by the bankrupt are: "Expense of cleaning and manuring foul land, bad seasons and transactions with money lenders."

December 3, 1927

JANE Hawker of Littleworth Street, Evesham, was summoned for being drunk and disorderly on November 15. PC Ainge said that at 4pm he saw the defendant lying by the War Memorial drunk and using indecent language. She was unable to walk and he had to take her to the police station in a handcart. There was a recent conviction against her for a similar offence and she was fined 15s.

50 years ago

December 6, 1952

THE pilot of a Percival Prentice training plane from Moreton RAF station made a perfect landing in a field of autumn sown corn at Greville Hall Farm, Gipsy's corner, near Evesham on Thursday morning when the plane's engine failed. Fire brigade, ambulance and break-down crews, notified that an aircraft had made a forced landing, searched for nearly an hour before discovering the plane a short distance from the borough boundary of Evesham. The major pump water tender from Evesham fire station had travelled almost to Tewkesbury before turning back and finding the scene of the incident.

December 8, 1977

PRODUCTION was back to normal yesterday after a fire at the Robirch sausage and pie factory in Mill Street, Evesham, on Tuesday. It was Evesham's largest fire since the firemen's dispute started more than three weeks ago and all 350 employees at the factory were evacuated from the premises while local volunteers and soldiers with a Green Goddess tackled the blaze.
